(19) Therefore, the LORD proclaims:
Jeremiah 15:19 (CEB)
If you return to me, I will take you back
and let you stand before me.
If you utter what is worthwhile,
not what is worthless,
you will be my spokesman.
They will turn to you,
not you to them!
Hello Readers, hope all’s well. Time for another #shorts post.
And today’s post really lives up to that “#shorts” keyword. Even more than the last post.
Today’s little tidbit for the #shorts post is a short passage from Scripture. A guest pastor gave a sermon on it at our church last week. And the passage starts with Jeremiah 15:19.
You Will Be My Influencer
The guest pastor gave the sermon on Jeremiah 15:19. But when I looked at the verse, I also read on to the next few verses and added them here.
The guest pastor really focused on the part of verse 19 that says, “They will turn to you, not you to them!” As in, if we turn to the LORD and follow Him, He will empower us with some level of worldly influence so we can bring more people to Him. The LORD says people will listen to us rather than the other way around.
But the world has always been hostile to the Christian message, ever since the time of Christ. Opposition is guaranteed if we preach the Gospel. And that is why I think the LORD added verses 20 and 21 on to this. The LORD tells us that, yes, we will be attacked for the message because this world is hostile to God. But the LORD is always with us and these attacks won’t prevail!! It’s crucial to keep this last part in mind.
(19) Therefore, the LORD proclaims:
Jeremiah 15:19-21 (CEB)
If you return to me, I will take you back
and let you stand before me.
If you utter what is worthwhile,
not what is worthless,
you will be my spokesman.
They will turn to you,
not you to them!
(20) I will make you a sturdy bronze wall
against these people.
They will attack you,
but they won’t triumph,
because I am with you
to protect and rescue you,
declares the LORD.
(21) I will rescue you from the hand of the wicked;
I will redeem you from the grasp of the violent.
When the LORD takes us back, He builds us up. As we increase in Holy Spirit power, on top of our Spiritual growth we will also become more and more effective in the physical world too. It could be that we start accomplishing big things—especially on a Spiritual level. It could be that, as Jeremiah 15:19 declares, the LORD will give us some level of influence and the right words to preach that draw people to us.
If the Holy Spirit powers up our preaching and people start turning to hear us, we can expect opposition as we already know. In that case remember Jeremiah 15:20. They will attack us, but they won’t succeed, because the LORD is with us. And so … keep preaching!!
That’s it for #shorts #7. Stay tuned for more #shorts all this month.
