Today’s tidbit comes from Destroying Believers by Mark Ballenger. I quoted from this book in a recent End Times post.
Today’s short little tidbit is about demonic retaliation for the good things we do,especially for any Spiritual growth we experience in Christ. Take a look:
When We do Good, they Get Mad
Have you ever felt like everything goes wrong, right when you do something good for Jesus?? Like right when you feel you’re getting closer to the LORD, that’s when all kinds of problems hit you?? And for the more Spiritually sensitive Readers out there, do you ever feel more opposed and oppressed in the Spirit after doing good deeds for the LORD or after a season of growing closer to Him??
Well … that’s no coincidence!! Satan and his demons retaliate when we make Spiritual progress and are on our way to getting closer to God. The kingdom of hell goes on the attack when we’re doing good. They aim to make it as hard as possible for us to do good.
Mark Ballenger describes this situation in his ebook, Destroying Believers.
Now remember, Destroying Believers is a fictional book written from the perspective of the demons. So it’s kind of like The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis if you know that title. Just keep that in mind as you read.
So, what does Satan’s kingdom have to say about retaliating against believers who are on the right track?? Let’s take a look:
[…] you will inevitably still be in need of knowing how to deal with those saints who overcome and continue to grow in Christ.
This is not a complicated assault, for I have found that the best and most proper response for anyone who is growing in God is to retaliate against them without ceasing. You are to open up the floodgates of your assaults and attempt to make their lives as difficult as possible. Bring as much hell into their lives as you are able. Sicknesses, false feelings of every type, relational conflicts, having their possessions vandalized –whatever you can do to make life difficult, do it with all the force you can gather.
At this point, you need no longer fear blowing your cover. People who have grown significantly in God will know all about you. You, therefore, have all the freedom to drop the curtain of camouflage and begin to act as though open war is truly at hand, for indeed it is. Whenever they do good for God, you must attempt to make them pay for it. Whenever they are about to do good for God, you must make it as stifling as possible for the work to begin. If ever alliances are built between true saints seeking God, then you must drive a wedge of deep annoyance between them, making the relationship as strenuous as you are able. Retaliate, retaliate, retaliate –it is your last and only option.
[…] if you make the retaliation miserable enough, your target may make the agreement in his heart that doing good for God is simply not worth it. […] This is your last chance. For those who have God can never be beaten unless they decide within themselves to give up.

This book Destroying Believers may be fiction, but it’s grounded in Truth and what Ballenger says here are straight facts. If you’ve ever had everything go crazy and wrong in your life after getting closer to the LORD or doing some good deeds for His Glory, that’s no coincidence and it’s no accident. That’s Satan and his demons at work retaliating for the progress you’re making for God.
We have to expect and endure this retaliation, trusting in the LORD to get us through it and restore us afterward. To help you endure, zoom in on the last line of the book quote, above. We can endure Satan’s retaliation because those who have God can never be beaten unless we ourselves decide to give up!! Don’t forget it.
