Think about this safety fence of Spiritual protection again. The LORD Himself holds it up strong, and it protects us from the Spiritual dangers of the End Times. But if we disobey the LORD, it’s like poking holes in the safety fence. If we poke holes in the safety fence by disobeying the LORD, we shouldn’t be surprised to suffer Spiritual consequences for our actions.

Part 50 Recap Post

Part 100 Recap Post

Hello Readers, hope all’s well. Today I present another End Times post.

Let me start right out by asking you a simple question. Do you put your hand in fire to find out if it’s hot?? Do you pet sharks or poisonous snakes to find out if they’ll bite??

I’m guessing that you Wise and reasonable Readers don’t do things like that. You already know fire is hot, and you don’t need to touch it to find out. And despite the fact we have authority to trample snakes and scorpions underfoot, and no power of the enemy will harm us (Luke 10:19), I bet you’re smart and don’t mess around with venomous snakes and deadly sharks when you don’t need to.

If this describes you, then that’s good. Of course this is the correct attitude to have. But there are many dangers that aren’t as obvious as fire, snakes, or sharks. There are Spiritual dangers, like bowing to false gods or engaging with witchcraft, oftentimes without our informed knowledge. These Spiritual dangers, especially witchcraft, are rampant right now in the End Times. It’s everywhere.

As Christians, of course we don’t need to fear witchcraft. We don’t need to fear anything besides God (Luke 12:5). But just because we have no need to fear something doesn’t mean we should mess with it or engage with it in anyway. Even if the LORD can deliver us, why should we stick our hands in the fire??

This is something every Christian needs to understand right now. Witchcraft, curses, and demons can be found everywhere now as Satan rages harder than ever, knowing his time is short. The LORD will keep us safe, but we need to obey His instructions and stay away from these Spiritually dangerous traps. If we stick our hands in the fire, we should expect to get a painful burn.

The Safety Fence

“Who God blesses, no man can curse.”

Do you know this famous saying?? It comes from Numbers 23, when Balak paid Balaam to curse Israel while they moved through the desert. Balaam tried, failed, and then explained he couldn’t curse what God had blessed.

(20) Behold, I received a command to bless:
he has blessed, and I cannot revoke it.

(21) He has not beheld misfortune in Jacob,
nor has he seen trouble in Israel.
The Lord their God is with them,

and the shout of a king is among them.
(22) God brings them out of Egypt
and is for them like the horns of the wild ox.
(23) For there is no enchantment against Jacob,
no divination against Israel;

Numbers 23:20-23 (ESV)

As Christians who believe in Jesus Christ the Messiah, the Son of God, we are God’s People now through our Faith in Jesus. We are Israel. We are God’s Children. And God is with us!! He is with us, and He is for us!! He has blessed us, and who God has blessed no one will curse!!

You see, when it comes to witchcraft, curses, and so on, there’s a “safety fence” of protection around Faithful Christians. Curses and witchcraft cannot and will not harm us if the LORD does not Will it. This safety fence of protection against witchcraft (etc.) is upheld by the LORD Himself. And the LORD our God is the ultimate authority in the Spiritual reality we live in. All demons (which empower witchcraft and make it work) must submit to the authority of the LORD and His Son, Jesus Christ.

So if the LORD does not Will that a curse works against a Faithful believer, then it won’t work. Those who take shelter in the Most High have refuge in the LORD. He protects us; He is our fortress.

(1) He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
(2) I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

(3) For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
    and from the deadly pestilence.

(4) He will cover you with his pinions,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

(5) You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,

Psalms 91:1-5 (CEB)

We have no need to fear anything about witchcraft or curses at all then. If the LORD chooses to protect us, we will have full protection. The curses targeting the Righteous will rebound and return to the one who spoke them. That’s when all hell breaks loose … for the witch. Heh heh heh ….

But this protection is at the LORD’s discretion. Is there any situation when He would take back His protection from us?? Well, that’s the main thing I want to talk about today.

Don’t Poke Holes in the Fence

If we don’t obey the LORD, He very well may choose to withdraw His protection for a time. He may do this as Discipline to bring us back in line. If we engage with witchcraft (etc.), we are disobeying the LORD. He gave clear instructions in Deuteronomy 18 that we must not engage with witchcraft or magic in any way.

(9) “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. (10) There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer (11) or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, (12) for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. (13) You shall be blameless before the Lord your God, (14) for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.

Deuteronomy 18:9-14 (ESV)

Witchcraft is something that the nations of Canaan did. God’s People, Israel, are held to a different standard. If we deal with witchcraft, we aren’t acting like God’s People, and the LORD will allow us to suffer the consequences of witchcraft until we REPENT! and return to obedience to Him. Only then will we have our protection back.

Let me sum this up. In other words, we have no reason to fear witchcraft and are 100% safe from it as long as we take refuge in the Most High. As long as we obey the LORD. But that doesn’t mean we can or should deal with witchcraft or engage with it in any way.

If we obey the LORD and are Faithful to Him, He will protect us. If we engage with witchcraft, we are not being Faithful to Him (witchcraft is empowered by demons), and we are disobeying a direct instruction from the LORD found in Scripture. DO NOT MESS WITH WITCHCRAFT, says the LORD. God’s People, Christians, obey the LORD and we don’t do those things. If we engage with witchcraft, we aren’t acting like God’s People.

Witchcraft is real. Let’s be clear about that. God would not take time and space in His Word to forbid it if it wasn’t real. God would not waste His Words like that. Through His Word, God warns His People about Witchcraft because it’s important we stay far away from it. It’s important we stay close to the LORD, and far from the devil.

So stay in the safety of the LORD!! Don’t poke holes in the safety fence of Spiritual protection!! Don’t mess with witchcraft!! Don’t engage with every new prayer or Spiritual fad that comes to church!! And definitely never engage with the Spiritual fads found outside the church, in the world. We must be alert for witchcraft, and pray for the discernment of the Holy Spirit to alert us to it. When we find it or know about it, we must never take part in it or engage with it!!

If we stay away from witchcraft, we obey the LORD, and if we obey the LORD He will protect us from all these Spiritual dangers. Even if we aren’t aware of them, the LORD will protect us from curses targeted at us. But if we dabble in witchcraftwhich we can even do by accident if we dabble in all the latest Spiritual fads in church and elsewhere—the LORD will withdraw His protection until we REPENT! and go back to Him for Forgiveness. We should expect no protection as long as we disobey any of His instructions. Look at the history of the Jewish people in the Old Testament. Look how many times the LORD stopped protecting them because of their disobedience.

If we disobey His instructions, we should expect no protection. If we poke holes in the safety fence of Spiritual protection, we shouldn’t be surprised when something harmful gets in.

Stay in Safety

Let me return to the first question I asked at the start of this post. Do you put your hand in fire to find out if it’s hot?? Or do you just know that it’s hot, and know you’d better not touch it.

It’s like this with witchcraft (etc.) in the End Times. There are so many idolatrous and Spiritually adulterous Spiritual practices the world tempts us to engage in. Yoga, witchcraft in disguise (think Law of Attraction and things like that), occultism in disguise. So many Spiritual traps out there. Some of them even come to the church.

If we pray every day and follow the LORD, if we listen to the discernment of the Holy Spirit, then we’ll be able to recognize this witchcraft-in-disguise when we encounter it. At that point, we know it’s fire. We already know it’s hot, and we have no need to stick our hand in it to confirm that. In fact, we should be warning others!!

But if we do choose to stick our hand in a fire, we shouldn’t expect the LORD to protect us from it. He’ll allow us to get burned!! He loves us too much NOT to let us feel the consequences of our willful sins. That’s how we learn, and that’s what leads us back to Him.

God can heal and deliver us from drug addiction—does that mean we should try drugs so God can deliver us??

(**Drugs are a form of witchcraft by the way, because they change people. Drugs are also called out in the Bible as prohibited by the LORD.)

No, if we poke holes in the safety fence of protection, the LORD will let us feel the consequences. He will return His protection to us when we return to Him, REPENT!, and follow Him again in obedience. But until then He will allow us to suffer the drug addiction, which would be the consequence of our actions. He will even let us feel the pain of the bitter struggle to break free of the addiction, so that we learn from our mistake and never return to drugs again once freed. The LORD has to let us feel our consequences, or else we’ll never learn, and we would engage with whatever dangerous things we wanted to, whenever we wanted to.

And that’s not the LORD’s Will for us. He wants to keep us safe from the Spiritual dangers of this world. So He forbids us to engage with those things (witchcraft, drugs, etc.), and expects our obedience.

If we stay away from those and follow the LORD, we are being obedient. This is how we take shelter in the LORD Most High. If we do this, He will be happy to protect us always.

But if we experiment and indulge with those things, we are being rebellious. We are poking holes in the LORD’s safety fence of Spiritual protection by dealing with these sinful things. We should not be surprised then if something bad happens.

We all know fire is hot. None of us needs to stick a hand in to figure that out. And even if some of the “Spiritual fires” of the End Times are in disguise, we still have God’s Word and the Holy Spirit to alert us to what’s Spiritually dangerous and adulterous. Stick with the LORD, stay in the safety of the Most High; stay away from all forbidden things.

Don’t poke holes in the satefy fence of the LORD’s Spiritual protection. And don’t be surprised when something bad happens if you do. Turn to the LORD then, REPENT!, renounce the error of your ways, and reform your life.
