Never think that God tolerates or overlooks our sins because of how public and vocal we are about our Faith. NO!! Our private life is so much more important than our public life. What good is it if we say all the right things when people are watching, but live in sin and immorality when no one’s looking??

Part 50 Recap Post

Part 100 Recap Post

Hello Readers, hope all’s well. Today I present another End Times post.

Oh great, here we go again. A Christian exposed for engaging in sexual misconduct, immorality, and sin.

I already wrote about this back in Part 71 … but, the same thing is happening again. Different suspect, different location, same issue: Sexual misconduct by an avowed Christian. Well, actually there is one very significant difference. In Part 71: It all Comes to Light I wrote about the private sexual misconduct of a few Christians being exposed. It led them to step down from their positions and so on.

But in the case I’m writing about today, a Christian has been accused, arrested, and indicted of a crime related to his sexual offenses. Today’s case is more serious because of that. While the men profiled in Part 71 were guilty of sexual sin, none were guilty of a sexual crime as far as we know. No charges were ever filed in any of their cases.

Now to be fair Josh Duggar, the man at the center of today’s case, isn’t guilty of a crime yet either. He’s pleaded not guilty to his charges and plans to take it to trial. His case will go through the justice system in the U.S., and then we’ll see what the verdict is. But things don’t look good based on this man’s past history. He seems to have a history of sexual misconduct.

Anyway, once again, the Christian in question is getting a lot of media attention. This is someone who’s been very vocal about Christianity and Christian values. The secular media loves to expose such vocal people of Faith and reveal their hypocrisy. This could be one of Satan’s secondary goals when he tempts Christians to sexual sin. Every time one of these cases is exposed, it harms the Faith of Christian believers. No wonder Satan is working overtime to tempt Christians in the End Times. He wants the Faithful to stumble so that their falls discourage other believers.

Anyway, it does us no good to get mad at the press for exposing someone; they’re only doing their job. We should be more concerned with watching over our own communities as Christians. With battling our lust and getting help for those who are struggling.

Christians living double lives of public Piety and private immorality are hypocrites. And as Jesus Himself said, they will be exposed. No one living a secret life of sin can keep it hidden forever. What’s done in the dark will be revealed in the light. You’d think Christians would understand this by now … but the sins keep coming.

(2) Nothing is hidden that won’t be revealed, and nothing is secret that won’t be brought out into the open. (3) Therefore, whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and whatever you have whispered in the rooms deep inside the house will be announced from the rooftops.

Luke 12:2-3 (CEB)

Alright then. What’s going on with this man, Josh Duggar?

A History of Hypocrisy

Here are the facts of the case so far. I’m getting my information from an article by NBC news, entitled “Josh Duggar of TLC’s ’19 Kids and Counting’ indicted on child pornography charges” by Doha Madani and Diana Dasrath. It was published on April 30, 2021. **On that note, I should point out that I’m writing today’s post in early May, about one month ahead of posting. A lot could change in this case by the time this post goes live.

Josh Duggar, who gained some fame by starring in a reality TV show in the U.S., was arrested and charged with receiving and possessing child pornography. He pleaded not guilty. That’s pretty much where the facts stand right now; there isn’t much more info available yet.

But there is a history of sexual sin with this guy Josh, it seems.

In 2015, Josh Duggar confessed to molesting his four younger sisters and a babysitter when he was a teen. By his own admission he said he “acted inexcusably” back then and was “extremely sorry.” I don’t doubt he was remorseful and sorry, but this action reveals something serious is wrong with him.

But the worst part is, another article (“Duggars on Molestation by Son: ‘We Felt Like Failures’“) shows that this sinful and disturbed molestation was a pattern and habit with Josh Duggar.

Jim Bob Duggar said his son first confessed to the inappropriate touching on two occasions in 2002, and that the teen said it occurred when the girls were asleep. Josh confessed again in 2003, when the child involved was very young. After that, the family sent Josh to a Christian program in Little Rock that emphasized physical work and mentoring.

“It was after that third time he came to us, is where we really felt like ‘you know what? We have done everything we can as parents to handle this in-house. We need to get help,'” he said.

What can we say about someone who commits such an unholy sin against their own younger siblings, confesses, and then does it two more times?? It seems clear that the man has serious sexual problems and needs both Divine and psychological help.

In 2015, a website called Ashley Madison was hacked. This was a dating website meant for helping people cheat on their spouses. Josh Duggar was exposed in the hack as being a member of this site. He then admitted to the sin, and said this:

“While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.”

I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him,”

“The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failings,” he added.

Pay close attention to the language Duggar uses. “Secret,” “double life,” public vs. private. His exposure back in 2015 is one more proof of the Truth of Luke 12—no secret sin will stay secret forever. Everything will one day be exposed.

Never think that God tolerates or overlooks our sins because of how public and vocal we are about our Faith. NO!! Our private life is so much more important than our public life. What good is it if we say all the right things when people are watching, but live in sin and immorality when no one’s looking?? That shows we have no true fear of the LORD and His Justice, for one thing. And for another, it will only cause more harm to the cause of Christ when our private sins are exposed, harming the Faith of other believers.

God will not tolerate double lives and hypocrisy from His servants. We have to be honest about our personal sins, and battle them with Christ. This is a Christian duty. In Josh Duggar’s case, we can see what happens if we neglect this duty.

The events in 2015 add important context to Duggar’s arrest in 2021. It paints a picture of a man with severe sexual problems and a sex addiction who has not treated those issues. From the allegations, it appears that he’s continuing to indulge his temptations instead of battling his sin.

It’s unfortunate to see a vocal Christian be accused of crimes like this. But if the allegations are true and he is guilty, it’s even more tragic that there are victims of his wrongdoing out there who have been harmed sexually. We may not appreciate the U.S. media using cases like this to drag the name of Christ through the mud. Yet at the same time we must pray for the Truth to be revealed, for the sake of the victims and Justice. This case has not gone to trial yet. But if a sexual crime was committed, the LORD demands Justice—no matter who the perpetrator is.

Sexual misconduct can never be tolerated within our midst—it’s too dangerous. It causes far-reaching harm all around.

Faith Fallout

Ravi Zacharias. Surely you know the name. He was one of the world’s most respected Christians. He was received as a guest by presidents and other world leaders to talk about the Faith. So many people listened to his Christian apologetics lectures.

But after his death in 2020, Christians were in for a horrible shock. Women started coming forward with accusations of sexting, unwanted advances, rape, and more. Ravi Zacharias’ ministry investigated, and found the allegations to be true. They released this statement saying it was all true.

Ravi’s double life of secret sin caused so much harm it now overshadows any good he did in life. He harmed his victims, causing them long-lasting pain and trauma. He harmed his wife and family by living a double life as a totally different person than they thought him to be. And his international ministry, RZIM, has been forever tainted by these sins. They have lost their credibility, moral standing, and Spiritual authority.

But worst of all, Ravi’s secret sins harmed the Faith of millions of Christians when exposed. As I watched Christian YouTube and read Christian articles around this time, I could see and hear the hurt in these people’s Spirits. These Christians were heartbroken, disappointed, and betrayed. Ravi was someone they held up as one of the best examples of a good modern Christian. But after his death, it turns out who he was in private was not like that at all. Such a shocking betrayal was enough to shake people’s Faith—how could someone live so Righteous in public but be so evil in private??

All this widespread harm from one man’s secret sins. That harm is one of the devil’s goals whenever he trips up a Christian leader. Of course his main goal is to trap Christians in sin, making them forsake God and give up their Salvation to follow earthly temptations. But the devil also knows that if he can tempt a Christian leader into sin, it has wide-ranging consequences on possibly millions of other Christians.

Christians feel so disappointed, heartbroken, and betrayed by people like Ravi Zacharias. When a Christian follows someone they thought was a man of Faith, but then it turns out he wasn’t that at all, this Christian may question the value of Christianity entirely. They see that this “great person of Faith” didn’t care enough to live a true Godly life, so why should they?? And what does it even matter to live a Pious life??

Young Christians (meaning those who have not been born again for very long) are more vulnerable to this Spiritual danger of shaken Faith. But even mature, experienced Christians are not immune to it. Look: People feel incredibly betrayed when a person turns out not to be who they so vigorously claimed to be in public. And betrayal hurts.

With all the extra fallout he can create from one man’s sin, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that the devil is targeting Christian leaders more than ever right now, in the End Times. If the devil can compromise Christian leadership and weaken the Faith now, at The End, the believers who get discouraged and leave may not come back to Jesus in time.

But the fact that the devil is the one doing the tempting doesn’t excuse any of us for our own sins. The devil is always there, always tempting us. He’s always looking to snare us somehow—and we know this already, because the New Testament tells us. So since we know that already, it’s on us to battle temptation and fight our sins, with the help from Jesus Christ.

“The devil tempted me” is not an excuse we can accept. We all need to fight and resist the devil. If we’re struggling and need some help, we need to not only pray to Jesus for strength, we also need to reach out to other believers for help, aid, and accountability. It may be embarrassing, but we need to do this because Jesus wants us to get help rather than fall into sin and cause harm. We need to help the person who’s struggling, so that they can help us later when we stumble. Galatians 6:2 teaches us this.

(2) Carry each other’s burdens and so you will fulfill the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2 (CEB)

Of course Galatians 6:2 must extend to us supporting the victims of these sexual crimes. That may put a church in a socially awkward position, but the right thing that must be done is for the church to support victims and their healing in any way possible.

Any Christian leader struggling with lust needs to step down and get help. Help from other Christians, and maybe even professional help. Look at the consequences that can result from sexual sin. Sexual sin and immorality are too dangerous to play around with—any Christian leader struggling with unmanageable lust needs to step down so they can get help. If they can defeat their issue and get back to normal, then they could retake their position later.

All these cases of Christians being exposed for sexual sins (and crimes) make the opening verses of Luke 12 crystal clear. Of course these people are being exposed—Jesus Himself said that everyone who sins in secret will be exposed!! So don’t be too eager in blaming the media and other people like that for exposing these guys. Sure, of course the U.S. media has an anti-Christian agenda. But you know what?? At the end of the day, Ravi Zacharias, Falwell Jr., and others are still guilty of this sin and immorality. So we can’t overlook personal responsibility.

Josh Duggar has not been found guilty of anything yet. Let’s watch and see how his case turns out. But the facts we know so far show a man with a pattern of not managing his sexual temptations.

We have to deal with the sins in our lives NOW, before causing harm to others!!

We can never live a double life of secret sin. It will always get exposed in the end. And when it does, the fallout will harm everyone … and harm their Faith too.
