Even one execution of an innocent man is an injustice we can never undo.
Hello Readers, hope all’s well.
I usually don’t post things like I’m posting now, but the Spirit moved me to do it today. I saw something online today that compelled me to share it. The story of Mr. Pervis Payne, a Black man in the U.S. facing execution on April 9. He has less than a month to live.
Killing and executions are not our right, not our authority, not our jurisdiction as Christians. God is the one who avenges and punishes, not us. Instead, Jesus says we are to Forgive and pray for others. So as Christians we should already be opposed to the death penalty on those grounds.
(19) Don’t try to get revenge for yourselves, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath. It is written, “Revenge belongs to me; I will pay it back, says the Lord”. (20) Instead, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. By doing this, you will pile burning coals of fire upon his head”. (21) Don’t be defeated by evil, but defeat evil with good.
Romans 12:19-21 (CEB)
But the death penalty is so much worse in a case with so much injustice as the case described in the video below. The police made claims with no evidence. DNA evidence has been withheld, lost, or not allowed to be tested. To use the death penalty in a case like this, with so many questions and issues surrounding it, is an atrocity and a crime against humanity.

You could even share this post if you prefer. But if you’re able to spread the word, please do!! Because there is hardly any time left to do it. And let’s all pray for Mr. Pervis Payne and his family.
That’s all. Please share the video!!!!!
